Best Kitchen Knives
Most kitchen tasks can be handled with a regular 8″ chef’s knife, and the review below takes a look at the best of the Best Kitchen Knives in India 2023.
Japanese Knife
If you are used to classic French knives, Japanese knives take some getting used to. Japanese kitchen knives are lighter and therefore less versatile than traditional chef’s knives. They are perfect for slicing vegetables, but I wouldn’t use them for slicing bones.
However, do not discard them immediately. Japanese kitchen knives are a great choice in the kitchen due to their light feel and very sharp bevelled edges.
So much so that reviewers warned about the safety of knives cutting through dishcloths while cleaning.
Two knives are vying for first place in this class: the Global Chef Knife G-5 and the Shun Classic Santoku Chef Knife. Their edge is not only very sharp, but stays sharp much longer than other Japanese knives.
If you know a Japanese style knife is for you, the choice comes down to weight and grip as both of the above knives are razor sharp.
Even though Shun knives are lighter than traditional chef knives, they are much heavier than Global knives.
Therefore, Shun knives can be used, for example, for butchering chicken. Global knives probably won’t give you the power you need for this kind of work.
The handle of the Global knife is made of stainless steel with grooves for a secure grip, however many reviewers report that the handle can become very slippery, especially when wet.
The Shun handle is made of Pakkawood in a D shape. For some, this is a very comfortable handle, but for other, smaller reviewers, this handle can become uncomfortable when cooking large amounts of food.
Both knives are exceptional and these are the Best Japanese Knife in India 2023. The choice comes down to the preferences of each individual user.
Traditional Chef’s Knives
Traditional chef’s knives are heavier and longer than Santoku chef’s knives. Two of the most popular high quality knives are the Wusthof Classic Chef Knife and the JA Henckels Pro S Chef’s Knife.
Like the aforementioned Japanese knives, both of these knives are exceptional. It all depends on the user’s preferences.
It should be noted that these traditional knives do not come out of the box as sharp as they can be. Give them some love, sharpen them up and you will see their true potential. They will never be as sharp as Japanese knives, but you can get close to them.
And once they get sharp, they stay sharp much longer than Japanese knives. Let’s look at these two in more detail.
Wusthof knives have a forged high carbon stainless steel blade with a bolster and a polypropylene handle riveted along the entire length of the shank.
Some with large hands find the handle too thin, others like it. The blade is thicker than other traditional knives. This knife is heavy, durable and well balanced. Wusthof Classic can handle just about any job you throw at it.
The popular Henckels Pro S also features a full tang high carbon stainless steel forged blade, but the blade is welded to the handle rather than the entire knife being forged at once.
JA Henckels knives are sometimes criticized for this, but the weld is invisible and the company claims that the welds are actually stronger than steel.
The knife features the popular Henckels Novodur triple rivet handles and feels surprisingly light for the power the knife packs.
Budget Kitchen Knives
Victorinox kitchen knives, mostly R.H. Forschner are the Best Kitchen Knives in India 2023 under the budget. Don’t let the price fool you. Some reviewers state that they are more drawn to this knife than other expensive knives in their block.
Forschner knives are made by Swiss craftsmen from stamped high-carbon stainless steel without a bolster.
Most people think that the best kitchen knives are forged, but this knife is an exception. The Victorinox handles are made of non-slip Fibrox and are ergonomically shaped for balance.
The knife cuts well and holds an edge well, but some overlook the weight of higher grade forged knives. Chef knife R.H. Forschner is dishwasher safe.
Really. Many of the high end knives mentioned above also claim to be dishwasher safe, but I wouldn’t recommend doing so. My Forshner is washed in the dishwasher every time and everything is fine.

So… What’s the Verdict?
Yes, they all sound great, and they all have their flaws. How should you choose?
The most important thing is to find a knife that fits comfortably in your hand and suits your needs. All knives presented in this article are the Best Kitchen Knives in India 2023 and will not disappoint.
1. Kyocera – the Best Kitchen Knife Set India
Kyocera Revolution Series Ceramic Santoku Knife –
Specifications:
- Unrelenting sharpness.
- Unparalleled purity.
- Material composition.
- No metallic ions to transfer.
- Perfectly balanced and light.
Kyocera Knife Set is mainly composed of two best-selling Kyocera ceramic knives, which are equally popular for their beauty and practicality. Basically, it contains a 5.5″ Santoku knife and a 3″ paring knife.
The Kyocera Ceramic Knife Set is ideal for the home kitchen. It can also be used day in and day out and is quickly becoming everyone’s favorite kitchen helper.
Believe it or not, the Kyocera ceramic cutlery set is on Oprah’s 2023 favorites list.
This set of knives is great for vegetables, fruits, and boneless meats. You can easily use the knife for convenient chopping, dicing, julienne and slicing.
Meanwhile, the paring knife is also best for trimming, cutting, peeling and seeding. Please note that Oprah only uses these knives in the kitchen.
They also make a great and thoughtful gift for a hostess or home cook. Currently, the Kyocera knife set can have both black and white blades.
The ceramic blade of the Kyocera Knife Set is honed to microscopic precision with diamond wheels for a stone-like sharpness and superior sharpness retention. It is also resistant to juices, acids, salts, oils and does not rust.
In addition, it is lightweight and perfectly balanced when held. Ergonomic handle reduces fatigue during repeated cutting.
Keep in mind that it should only be hand washed and only sharpened with a Kyocera electric sharpener.
Kyocera offers a free sharpening service, but the knife must be mailed. Apart from these benefits, be aware of a few disadvantages of the Kyocera knife set.
First, its blade tends to become brittle and can only be sharpened by sending it back to the manufacturer.
Remember, however, that the Kyocera knife set stays extremely sharp for up to ten times longer than standard blades.
Those who have actually bought and used knives have different opinions about the product.
It was quite difficult for a beginner to get used to the knives as the Kyocera ceramic knife set felt “different” compared to high quality steel knives like the Shun Classic.
Also, some claim that they found that the way the knife glides effortlessly over the tomatoes, making slices so thin that you could practically see through them, was a bit creepy as well as amazing.
Be extremely careful as these knives are very sharp. Anyone can make cuts as thin as you like with a consistency that is unmatched by Kyocera knives. In addition, these knives are very easy to clean.
For some, the price of such a set of knives can be a little expensive. But do not forget, however, that such an investment will last a lifetime.
All in all, if you’ve ever tried to cut vegetables with a dull knife, you practically know how valuable it is to have decent quality cutlery.
In addition, having a set of Kyocera knives in your kitchen significantly affects not only the cooking time, but also the final look of the food.
While great knives can cost thousands of dollars, a Kyocera ceramic knife set doesn’t cost that much. You can basically have it for less cost.
2. JA Henckels – the Best Kitchen Knife Online India
Zwilling J.A. Henckels Stainless Steel Knife Set –
Specifications:
- Set of 15 pieces.
- Stainless steel.
- Serrated type blade edge.
- Dishwasher safe.
- Blades are stain and rust resistant.
JA Henckels, a knife maker based in Solingen, Germany, makes many different cutlery lines but is popular for their superior quality JA Henckels knives.
They are one of the oldest and largest manufacturers of chef’s knives and have a strong reputation for making durable, quality knives.
J.A. Henckels manufactures a wide range of kitchen knives in all price ranges. In this article, we obviously want to consider only the Best Kitchen Knives in India 2023.
That’s why we’re only looking at, in our humble opinion, three of the best JA Henckels knives: Henckels Pro S, Henckels Twin Cermax and Henckels Twin Select. Forward!
Henkels Pro S
Henckels Pro S is Henckels’ best selling line and also ranks very high with us. These knives have been designed by professional chefs with a forged blade, balance roller and durable Novodur handles glued to the full shank.
As with most traditional German knives, the blade will not be as sharp as you would like. Give him some love and the edge will last a very long time.
The Henckels Professional S line uses several grades of steel in their knives, which goes against the idea that a single piece of steel makes a knife stronger.
The blade is made from steel with a higher carbon and chromium content, which allows the blade to stay sharp longer.
The bolster is made of steel with a lower carbon content, so it is resistant to corrosion. Pretty cool stuff.
The knife has the famous three Henckels rivets and an ergonomic handle. This is the only pen I can honestly say I have never heard anyone complain about.
The handle gives you a lot of control and the roller gives you the balance you need. Both are necessary in the kitchen when doing a lot of preparatory work.
Verdict? Can’t you tell we’re practically drooling over this?
Henkels Twin S
This is where Henckels makes great knives. JA Henckels introduced the Henckels Twin Signature a few years ago when the popularity of Japanese kitchen knives skyrocketed.
These knives are marked as a combination of “German steel with Japanese production”. It is sometimes thought that Henckels have boring mid-range knives, but this knife is different. This is beauty!
The blade is incredibly sharp and the sharpest we’ve seen right out of the box. It is made of micro carbide steel, which makes the blade incredibly hard and razor sharp.
Knives have excellent balance thanks to the one-piece shank construction and triple rivets.
The handle is made from black micarta and is quite heavy. Rumor has it that Henkels did this on purpose.
These knives were made for the consumer, not commercial chefs, and obviously most consumers want heavier handles. The shape of the handle fits well in the hand.
Verdict? Once we got over the heavy handle, this knife became a dream. Bravo!
3. Global Chef Knife
Global G-46-7 inch 18cm Santoku Knife –
Specifications:
- 7 Inch plain blade edge.
- Dishwasher safe.
- Very effective.
Ouch! It hurts!
My old chef’s knife slipped and left me with a cut finger and a run for Band-Aids.
The knife, a gift from my mother, just didn’t cut anymore (sorry for the pun).
It’s time to start looking for a new knife because, like me, a chef knows time and time again that an 8″ chef’s knife is one of the key tools for future culinary adventures.
An old knife that can’t hold an edge is dangerous, I’ve found.
So, I went looking for a replacement for my old reliable one and found that there are many options.
There are stainless steel knives, ceramic knives, and many other types in every range from very cheap to expensive mortgages.
I was lucky that I spoke with my friend who was a professional chef.
He recommended a Japanese company, Yoshikin, who made a product called Global Knives, which he said was one of the best for cooks.
On the recommendation of my friend, I did a little research on the company and its knives.
Yoshikin started making Global kitchen knives in 1985 when Komin Yamada decided to make the very best cutlery with modern technology.
So he went back to the drawing board and redesigned the modern chef’s most important tool.
He created a series of knives made from a single piece of steel with many improvements over the standard range of kitchen knives.
The G-2 version of the Global Chef Knife was one of the creations of a reimagining of the standard 8-inch (20 cm) chef’s knife. And the first major change is the material of the knife.
The material used is CROMOVA 18 stainless steel. This combination of chromium, molybdenum, vanadium and stainless steel is specially designed for Global knives.
Chrome prevents staining and tarnishing of the metal. Vanadium and molybdenum are two components that are added to stainless steel to help it retain its benefits.
Together, this results in a very light but strong knife, which, thanks to the high-tech alloy, can keep the blade sharp for a long time.
Every blade I find is handmade in Niigata, Japan by the YOSHIKIN factory. Each blade is ice-hardened, allowing the stainless steel blade to stay sharp longer.
The blade is hardened on the Rockwell C56-58 scale (this is a scale that shows the wear resistance of a knife, the higher the number, the more resistant the blade to wear).
Each blade has a ground surface and a special sharp edge and gradual curved edge that allows food to slide off each cut more easily and makes each cut easier.
The result is a thin, very sharp blade that does not stain and retains its sharpness for a long time.
A word of warning, though, if you’re used to “blunter” blades, be very careful because the blade is so sharp that if you’re used to cutting through food, you could easily cut your other support arm because there will be a little bit. lack of food resistance to the incision.
Calm down until you feel the knife.
Each knife is made from a single piece of steel, including the handle. The handle is hollow and filled with sand or metal for balance.
As you move, the sand shifts, allowing you to stay firm while using it. The handle has some black dimples around it so you can hold the knife firmly.
So even though I had a metal handle, it didn’t slip, no matter how wet my hand got.
It was also the perfect size for my medium sized hand (people with larger hands may have issues with grip size).
The one-piece design also makes it very easy to wash your hands after use (never use a dishwasher to clean a good knife, the machine could damage your knife).
After all this research, I decided to purchase this as my next chef’s knife. I can say that getting the Global Chef Knife was the best choice for my kitchen in a long time.
I took it out of the box and noticed the sleek design, a long stainless steel blade tapering to a dimpled black handle.
I was making homemade stew that evening, so I had the perfect test stand. I started with carrots and potatoes.
Pulling out my wooden cutting board and then a bag of carrots, I started using the G-2. With my old knife, it was hard to cut all the ingredients for the stew.
The G-2 knife didn’t resist when I cut the carrots and the slices were thinner than my old knife due to the knife’s thin blade and ease of handling.
It was the same with potatoes, which were easy to cut with my new knife.
Here I also learned about adjusting to a new knife and my previous warning about adjusting to the sharpness of the Global Kitchen Knives.
I cut without paying attention, and then I developed the skill of finding cheap bandages.
Finally, I got to the point of adding the meat to the stew. I usually go for the cheaper beef, which is a little harder to cut.
Again, with the Global G-2, I was able to cut the beef into smaller pieces so I could easily add them to the stew.
Because of the fine balance of the blade, what used to tire my hand was done faster and without fatigue.
The stew was great and that’s how my friendship with my new knife was born.
I have been using the Global Chef Knife for over three months now and it is still razor sharp. In the next few months, I plan to purchase a diamond sharpener from Global.
(Make sure you get the right sharpener because the standard Global knife sharpener won’t fit.) I look forward to a great kitchen relationship with my Global G-2.
4. Wusthof Classic Knives
Wusthof Classic 2 Piece Prep Knife Set –
Specifications:
- 6″ cook’s knife.
- Uniform cutting and long lasting sharpness.
- Wusthof’s precision edge technology.
Wusthof knives are sometimes considered “old school” and less “trendy” than the santoku knife fashion that America is currently going through.
The reason for this perception is clear: Wusthof knives have been popular knives for European chefs ever since the company started making them in Germany in 1814.
These knives have been around for a while and have stood the test of time for good reason.
While santoku knives are also a great choice, don’t discount German engineering.
One of the Best Kitchen Knives in India 2023 and most popular Wusthof knives, Wusthof Classic knives have a great weight, razor-sharp blade, balance roller and a handle that is hard to beat.
If this sounds like your chef’s knife, read on.
- Materials
Wusthof Classic blades are forged from a single piece of high carbon stainless steel.
The blade is stain resistant and incredibly sharp. Most reviewers are amazed at the ease with which this knife cuts through carrots, tomatoes, zucchini, etc.
It takes little effort, and a once-unwieldy dish can be cooked in half the time with a knife this sharp.
The classic comes with a bolster that gives the knife excellent balance. Chopping, dicing, slicing and shredding are performed with superior precision.
If, like many professional chefs, you prefer to hold your knife in front of the roller with your thumb and forefinger, this is the knife for you.
However, if you prefer a lighter, less bulky knife, you can try the Global Chef’s Knife or the Shun Classic Knives.
The full length handle is triple riveted for comfort. They are black in color and made of non-slip synthetic material, so there is no need to worry about bacteria growth, as is the case with wood.
- Care and durability
Wusthof Classic knives claim to be dishwasher safe, however this is not recommended.
A knife of this quality should be washed by hand after each use and stored in a knife block or magnetic knife holder.
Placing a knife in a drawer along with other cutlery can seriously damage it. Blade protection is available in a pinch. Wusthof offers many different knife storage options.
Many reviewers commented that the Wusthof Classic is not as sharp as it could be right out of the box.
To truly appreciate the incredible sharpness of Wusthof Classic knives, it is important to sharpen them as soon as they are opened. A professional chef will also advise you to sharpen your knife after each use.
While this is ideal, it is not required. Some home cooks sharpen their knives weekly or monthly. Others will only do it as needed. Feeling a little bored? Time to sharpen!
The Wusthof knife sharpener is a popular choice for this task.
- Types
The most popular Wusthof knife is the 8-inch Wusthof multi-purpose chef’s knife.
This knife is designed for chopping, dicing, slicing, chopping and everything in between. This is a great tool for those who only need one master knife in the house.
Also popular is the two-piece starter set, which includes an 8-inch chef’s knife and a 3.5-inch paring knife.
This set should give most home cooks all the tools they need. A set of 23 block knives is available for the ultimate collection.
- Warranty
When you buy a Wusthof knife, if you don’t lose it, you will never have to buy a new one.
Wusthof knives come with a lifetime warranty. If something happens to this chef’s knife, send it back to Wusthof and they will send you a replacement for free.
Wusthof Classic knives are of exceptionally high quality and are best suited for home cooks and professional chefs. These knives will handle any task you throw at them, and not only that, but they will also be a pleasure to use.

A lifetime manufacturer’s warranty and hundreds of rave reviews from current owners will provide essential support for anyone considering buying their first kitchen knife or first set of Shun Classic knives.
Conclusion
While some knife lovers may turn their backs on the JA Henckels brand, this is mainly due to their very low quality, dare I say cheap knife lines that can be found everywhere at Walmarts.
However, JA Henckels knives, like those listed above, are of very good quality, Best Kitchen Knives in India 2023 and will be able to handle any job you ask them to do, whether you are a casual chef or a professional chef.
Choosing the “ideal” knife is a matter of personal preference, but we believe that JA Henckels knives should be given due consideration along with the rest.
